THE STORY

LETS START WITH ME
Hello! My name is Elina. I am the mother of Birds of Milla. I created this brand in 2020 to pursue my dream and combine my love for nature and fashion. I have been passionate about fashion since I can remember. Fashion Designer was my answer to that famous childhood question that we all get. My mom knew how to sew so from time to time she would create clothing for me from my illustrations or descriptions (and believe me, sometimes those were pretty crazy ideas). I grew up in a country side in Latvia and my nature loving dad really influenced me to cherish it and surround myself with things made from natural materials. When I was 10 years old my family planted around 2000 spruce trees on my parents land. Those were pretty tough two days but now it is a very heart warming memory. I wholeheartedly believe that sustainability is the only logic road for fashion industry.

WHY LINEN?

We are linen lovers. Simply because linen is absolutely amazing! Linen suits all of our values. It is natural and ecological. It is very durable and breathable. It is chic and looks exclusive. Linen is anti-bacterial and it regulates body temperature. This fabric has so many great qualities. Linen is one of the oldest and most sustainable materials. It is made from Flax (Linum usitatissimu) that blooms with beautiful blue flowers. Linen is a true romantic!

Linen is quite famous for one very uncertain characteristic. Creases. Well, creases are a signature of linen and it is OK for this fabric to be slightly creased. We are not the biggest fans of crazy creased linen but if you are then by all means go for it. No other fabric looks so good when creased. We would suggest to invest in a small travel size steamer that you can quickly use when needed.

We source our linen locally in the Baltic States. We only use fabrics that have been certified by STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®. This certification stands for customer confidence and high product safety. No harmful substances have been used to produce linen fabrics that our products are made from.  It is very important to us.

At the moment we only use linen fabrics. In the future we might offer wider variety of fabrics if we find other materials that suit company’s values as perfectly as linen does.

We love linen very much and hope that you do too!
